The spring of 2018 for movie buffs and Marvel Comics fans was ruled by the hysteria created by Avengers: Infinity War. The movie saw the characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) coming together to fight the mad villain Thanos, who despite being despised in the movie was loved by the audience. The phenomenal success of movie saw fans flocking to a subreddit-- r/ThanosDidNothingWrong-- a page dedicated to the mad titan. And now, the subreddit which has a subscriber base of over 3,00,000 members, is gearing to do what Thanos in the movie was planning to do.
The subreddit is planning to decimate half of its community in the name of maintaining a perfect balance in the universe-- which in turn is an ode to MCU's super villain. In the movie, Thanos wanted to use the powers of the Infinity Gauntlet to exterminate half of the universe's population as an act of mercy to the world which is marred by over population and limited resources.
Whether Thanos will be able to execute his crazy plan remains a thing to be seen, in the meantime members of the subreddit group are preparing for the culling. The news was announced by one of the moderators who goes by the name of The Jedi Apprentice on the page. The moderator in a post on the page wrote that the culling was initially scheduled to take place on July 4. However, the plan was postponed due to the holiday season.
"As you all know, I was in talks with one of the admins of Reddit. He told me that doing a massive ban the day before July 4 was a terrible idea, because many of Reddit's engineers would be out with their families. Also, the engineers would not be prepared for a mass ban so close to it," he wrote in the post. The culling, wherein 50 per cent subs would be banned at random will now take place on July 9.
Meanwhile, the culling has become a subject of countless memes on the page and subscribers of the page are increasingly sharing memes and gifts demanding the mass murder. Some have even expressed their excitement to see if they survive the doomsday on the page.
