Nokia 7 Plus gets Google ARCore support

The Nokia 7 Plus is among HMD Global's best reviewed phones with praise being given to its design, hardware and stock Android software. It now looks like we have another reason to love the phone as Google has added the Nokia 7 Plus to its list of ARCore supported phones. This means that the mid-range Nokia 7 Plus will support Google's augmented reality platform and users will be able to download AR apps in the Play Store such as the recently supported Measure app.
NokiaPowerUser noticed the Nokia 7 Plus in the list of ARCore supported phone while downloading the ARCore app from the Google Play Store. However, there has been no official confirmation and the phone has not been updated in the list of supported devices in the developers page. The OnePlus 6 also recently received ARCore support but is yet to be officially listed in Google's website. Google will likely update the list soon with a bunch of newly supported phones. Once updated, the Nokia 7 Plus will be the third Nokia phone to support ARCore after the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 8 Sirocco.
ARCore is Google's reply to Apple's ARKit. The platform is aimed at enabling augmented reality solutions for existing and future phones without requiring additional hardware. Google recently also opened the Measure app for all ARCore supported phones, which now includes the Nokia 7 Plus as well. The original version of Measure was limited to a few Project Tango phones, but version 2.0 will now support all Android phones part of ARCore. The new update brings some improved visuals and controls to make it easier to measure objects by pointing the phone's camera at them.
The Nokia 7 Plus was launched earlier this year alongside the cheaper Nokia 6.1 and the high-end Nokia 8 Sirocco. Priced at Rs 25,999 in India, the Nokia 7 Plus has been lauded for its appealing design and tank-like build quality in addition to its impressive performance and stock Android software as part of the Android One program.
