Xiaomi Mi A2 colours and storage options leak, 6GB RAM variant expected
Mi 6X
Xiaomi is widely expected to launch the Mi A1 successor soon, although the company is yet to confirm anything as yet. Rumours and reports off late, however, suggest the the Mi A2 is just around the corner seeing as how the Mi 6X is already official in China. The Mi A2 is expected to look like the Mi 6X and carry most of the same internals as well, with the biggest difference being that the Mi A2 will be an Android One phone outside China. We now have some details regarding the colours and storage and memory variants of the Mi A2.
The latest leak comes from MySmartPrice, which claims that the Mi A2 will come in three colours - Gold, Blue and Black. The blue colour variant is new here as the Mi A1 was launched in India in Black, Rose Gold and Gold colours. The Mi A2 also got a special Red colour variant a few months later so Xiaomi could add a few more colours to the Mi A2 eventually.
As for the storage and memory variant, the leak suggests the Mi A2 will get a total of four options with the base variant coming with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and the top-end version getting 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. In the middle we have 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB configurations. To compare, the Mi A1 only came in a 4GB + 64GB configuration. If the leak is indeed true, it will be good to see Xiaomi offering multiple variants of the upcoming Mi A2, which is likely to see a similar positive response as the Mi A1 did.
Since the Mi A2 is essentially an Android One version of the Mi 6X outside of China, you can expect a similar metal unibody design with a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, and a vertical dual camera setup on the back with a 12MP + 20MP configuration. The Mi A2 will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset and will house a 3,010mAh battery with USB Type-C support and fast charging support. On the front, the Mi A2 is said to come with a 20-megapixel sensor.
As an Android One phone, you can expect stock Android Oreo out-of-the-box with timely Android security updates and Android P and Q in the future. The Mi A2 will offer Mi fans an alternative from other Redmi phones that come with Xiaomi's custom MIUI skin on top.
As four variants of the Mi A2 are now expected, we could see Xiaomi pricing the phone starting from around Rs 15,000 and crossing the Rs 20,000 mark with the top-end variant. For comparison, the Mi 6X starts at 1,599 RMB (roughly Rs 16,904) for the base variant, while the top-end version costs 1,999 RMB (roughly Rs 21,138).
