OnePlus 6 Red colour variant global launch teased for July 2, may come to India on same day

OnePlus 6 is currently available in four colour variants -- Mirror Black, Midnight Black, Silk White and Marvel Avengers Limited Edition. It has just been a few months that OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 6 and looks like the smartphone manufacturer is in no mood to rest. OnePlus is prepping up to launch the fifth variant of the OnePlus 6 in red colour.

As is the tradition, OnePlus may call the red coloured OnePlus 6, the Lava Red Edition, as was the case with the OnePlus 5T. OnePlus will be launching the red colour OnePlus 6 on July 2, as suggested by the official teaser put up by the company on Twitter. July 2 is expected to be a global launch date, meaning the OnePlus 6 Red Edition may also come to India on the same date.

OnePlus on Friday teased the Red Edition of the OnePlus 6. The teaser, however, doesn't show the phone nor does it officially mention the coming of OnePlus 6 Red Edition. But, the caption of the teaser makes it very evident that OnePlus 6 Red Edition is coming. The caption reads: "Now initiating: C61422. Do you wish to continue?" followed by the link to the official OnePlus 6 page of the company website.

If you do a simple Google search, you'll see "C61422" is the colour code for "red value" or dark red in simple terms. The tweet has also been retweeted from the OnePlus India handle, meaning the India launch of the OnePlus 6 Red Edition will happen on the same date, which is, on July 2.

Separately, YouTuber MKBHD and leakster Slashleaks have also shared pictures showing the OnePlus 6 Red Edition. YouTuber MKBHD has posted a picture showing the silhouette of the OnePlus 6 Red Edition hidden behind the Midnight Black variant. Slashleaks, on the other hand, posts a live image of the OnePlus 6 Red Edition, showing a glossy red colour back cover.

Just as the OnePlus 5T Lava Red Edition, the OnePlus 6 Red Edition is also expected to be a limited edition phone. In terms of the specs, the OnePlus 6 Red Edition will come with the similar hardware as the other colours of the OnePlus 6. The only difference may be, will be in the RAM and storage department.

Possibilities are, the OnePlus 6 Red Edition may come with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, much like the newly launched OnePlus 6 Midnight Black. The price is also expected to be the same as the new Midnight Black, Rs 43,999. The official price of the phone is yet to be revealed.

OnePlus 6 is currently available in three RAM or storage variants in India. The 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage model of the phone sells for Rs. 34,999, the 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant available for Rs 39,999, while the top-end 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage OnePlus 6 sells for Rs 43,999.
